Bee Pollen

When bees collect nectar from flowers, their legs become covered in pollen. These yellow granules are gently collected as the bee passes through a barrier upon entering the hive. Both Hippocrates and Pythagoras described bee pollen for its healing properties. Native Americans wore bags with pollen around their necks on long food journeys so that they could maintain a high level of energy. The Chinese, Romans, and Egyptians considered pollen a magic remedy. In China, pollen was first described over 2,000 years ago as a sweet, neutral taste. To this day, China remains the largest producer of pollen in the world followed by the United States

If you intend to store bee pollen for more than a few weeks after purchase, refrigeration is recommended. Dried pollen is usually taken in capsule form, up to 10 tablets per day of 500 mg each, as an extract, or it can be given directly or sprinkled on food. Bee pollen extracts are used in some skin care products
